Ingredients for Gelatin Gummies:

  • 25g gelatin powder or gelatin sheets

  • 25g pectin powder

  • 250ml water

  • 200g sugar

  • 2 passion fruits

  • Silicone molds

Gelatin is a protein derived from animal skin and bones. It's typically extracted from pig skin, but in some places, cow skin is also used to obtain gelatin. Gelatin is completely safe for children, so parents can feel confident using it to make gummy candies.

Steps to Make Gelatin Gummies:

Step 1: Gather all the necessary ingredients and tools to start making these delicious gummies!

Step 2: Cut the passion fruits and strain through a sieve to collect the juice. Add 150ml of water and split it into two portions to mix with the gelatin and pectin. You will get 50ml of passion fruit juice from the two fruits.

Step 3: Soak the gelatin and pectin. Soak the gelatin in half of the passion fruit juice for 10 minutes. Mix 25g of pectin with 50g of sugar and soak in the remaining portion of passion fruit juice for 10 minutes.

Step 4: Bring 150g of sugar and 100ml of water to a boil over high heat without stirring. Once boiling, reduce to medium heat and continue cooking until it thickens to a syrupy consistency.

Step 5: Gradually add the soaked gelatin and pectin into the sugar syrup, stirring continuously until fully dissolved. Pour the mixture into the silicone molds and let the gummies set at room temperature for 12 hours.

Step 6: Finalize by removing the gummies from the molds and store them in an airtight container.

Tips for Making Gelatin Gummies:

  • Use a water ratio of 5:1 with gelatin (e.g., 50g of gelatin corresponds to 250ml of water).

  • Avoid boiling the gelatin, as it will lose its gelling properties if overheated.
