What is Gelatin? Applications of Gelatin in Daily life
Gelatin is a gelling agent extracted from animal protein fibers. With its high protein content and gelling properties that do not alter the original color and flavor of the product, gelatin is highly favored in various industries, especially in the food industry.
Common gelling agents in daily life include agar powder, pectin (derived from plants, usually extracted from seaweed), and collagen or gelatin (extracted from natural animal proteins).
In everyday life, gelatin is used in many industries around us, such as:
Pharmaceuticals: Creating capsules and tablet coatings.
Cosmetics: Acting as a thickening agent in products like face masks and creams.
Photography: Used in the preparation of silver halide emulsions for film production.
Electronics: Gelatin glue with non-conductive properties is used in electronics.
Common Forms of Gelatin
The most common forms of gelatin on the Vietnamese market today are gelatin sheets and gelatin powder. Depending on user needs and purposes, these two forms of gelatin deliver the same results regardless of whether they are in sheet or powder form.

Currently, Greenifi Gelatin provides gelatin in powder form with packaging options of 100 grams, 200 grams, 500 grams, 1 kilogram, and 25 kilograms.
4 Foolproof Steps to Using Gelatin
Gelatin is very easy to use. Common issues like incomplete melting or clumping are usually due to insufficient soaking time or not soaking at all, or because the gelatin and mixture haven’t reached the right temperature to dissolve and set properly.
Follow these 4 guaranteed steps for success with Greenifi Gelatin:
Step 1: Soak Gelatin
Measure the required amount of gelatin and place it in a bowl. Add water at a ratio of 5 parts water to 1 part gelatin. Stir well and soak the gelatin in the water for 5-10 minutes until it fully softens and expands.
Note: The soaking water should be completely cold. You can use ice water to ensure the gelatin doesn’t melt prematurely, which could lead to a loss in the required amount.
Step 2: Melt Gelatin
There are 2 methods to melt Greenifi Gelatin:
Method 1: Steam Bath Place the fully softened gelatin in a steam bath. Stir gently and continuously until the gelatin completely dissolves into a liquid form.
Method 2: Microwave Place the fully softened gelatin in the microwave and heat on high for 10-15 seconds until it completely dissolves.
Note: Do not heat gelatin directly over a flame as this will burn the gelatin and destroy its effectiveness.
Step 3: Mix Gelatin with Other Ingredients
Once the gelatin has melted, you can mix it with other ingredients such as fruit juice, milk, cream, etc., to create the desired product.
To ensure the best results, let the gelatin cool slightly before mixing it into other ingredients.
Step 4: Set Gelatin
Pour the gelatin mixture into molds and refrigerate for 2-4 hours until fully set.
The setting time depends on the amount of gelatin mixture and the volume of liquid used.
By following these 4 simple steps, you have mastered the use of Greenifi Gelatin for guaranteed success.
